Rollercoaster Tycoon 3

This game is a good game. It has some of the grate things the original RCT had and it adds the grate idea of taking a ride on that which you create. This game falls short for me in the actual game play thow. It may very well be that I am not adjusting to the new idoms in the game and have just not given it a fair chance, but I dont like the controles as much. That sead - It is still a fun game which will give you hours of entertinament. I would recommend you try the original first, then buy this.

Great Gift
Quick delivery and processing.I purchased this as a gift for my sister she loved it! *Christmas2009*

Rollercoaster Tycoon never gets old...
Very fun game, soo many different things you can add and do to your parks, alot of Replay value.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 compared to Rollercoaster Tycoon 1
I was a big fan of the original Rollercoaster Tycoon, but when I saw this, I thought that I would try it, so I got it, installed it and launched it. Right away I noticed the clean and easy to navigate interface so I immediately went to sandbox mode and the game play, especially the Coaster Cam, is much better than the original, I really recommend getting this game.

Age Of Empires Collector\'s Edition (Limited Edition)

I've had the original of this series for I don't know how many years... It's always been fun to play. I've had the second one (Age of Kings) for slightly less time. As much fun Age of Kings is, I had no idea how much fun The Conquerors would be. I've never played it before.

Anyway, one of the great things about this series is that no matter how many times you play, it just keeps getting better. Right after I got this set from Amazon, I literally spent 4 hours playing a single "Standard Game" in Conquerors... There are a few things in Age of Kings that kinda bug me, and there are things I miss in the original from the second. Things like the idle villager button. The 200 population limit is another.

In Conquerors I just finished the Montezuma campaign. More fun than I've had in a long time in a campaign. Usually I do death match or random map.

In a nutshell, this game is HIGHLY recommended!

Don't let Amazon fool you into not being able to send this title to a PO box... If they give you crap, call 'em. In my area, if the PO box isn't on it, they post office will return it. Fortunately my billing address had it and was visible.

The condition of the case was a little bit to be desired. All but about 3 tabs holding the CDs were broken and fell out on the table as soon as I opened it. I recommend buying from Wal-Mart or some walk-in store if you care about the case very much.

Even with all the new games out nowadays this game still holds its own. Even more fun when you play with friends online or use the awesome cheat codes! Dont pass it up

BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!
Age of Empires (in particular, Age of Kings: Expansion) is my favorite computer game.
I particularly enjoy playing multi-player with friends of LAN.

One thing I want to mention: BEWARE WINDOWS 7 (and I hear Windows Vista) USERS!
This will not run easily on windows 7 due to Windows Aero. There are work-arounds, but overall, the system is unstable.
XP works best. Hopefully Microsoft will release a patch for it which will allow Windows 7 to work with the game, but who knows...

If anyone knows of a patch, let me know!

Few symptoms:
won't load
bad colors in game
can't join LAN game

Old game, but still runs well
I liked this game in the 90's and I still enjoy playing it. Excellent strategy game that sparked games such as StarCraft and many others. AOE2 is included and they are great games and a must-have for any strategy gamer. The one downfall to this is the fact that the original packaging had the tech trees for each nation on paper and it's difficult to choose nations based on their technological advancement trees if you don't have the original booklet that allowed you to read an easily compare who got the Centurions or the War Elephants. (At least AOE 2 has that built into the game.) One thing that is difficult to hold against the game, but is still a drawback, is that the online matches are not hosted by Microsoft anymore and they only support that for AOE 3 these days. Gamespy can still host them though, if you wish to play online. So, cheers to them and enjoy this classic!

Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties Expansion Pack

Game play is just as better, if not better, than Age of Empires III. The addition of more units and maps adds infinitely more possibilities. Unfortunately, the cavalry are just as useless as ever. This expansion adds more artillery--and more powerful artillery--which reduces the necessity of strategy. The addition of the consulate and export increases the possibilities and outcomes. As for the addition of new game types (regicide, King of the Hill, Treaty), the game is finally complete. The campaign is slightly shorter than I would have hoped, but it is still well done and fun to play. The scenario editor is still "iffy", but the elephants are completely awesome. Two thumbs up!

Great Expansion
Package came on time and was as promised. Installed with no difficulties.

Asian Dynasties adds more cultures and different capabilities to AOE III.

A solid addition, but nothing mindblowing
I'd had Age of Empires III and the Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs Expansion Pack for some time, and I enjoyed them quite a bit, so I decided to give this one a shot. I figured that, if nothing else, it would at least give me some variety in skirmish and multiplayer. What I got was adequate, but not particularly great.

The core game has always relied on giving each nation a gimmick, but the nations in this game are pretty much nothing but gimmicks. In War Chiefs each of the tribes had a theme which gave them certain strengths and weaknesses, but they all had the same core gameplay, which was little different from the European powers. With this expansion, the developers seem to have focused on shoveling in as much "unique" content for each nation as they can, which becomes monumentally distracting, as all this additional content is, indeed, additional to core gameplay. None of these nations share units, and most of the units they have are useless. For example: I thought to play as the Indians because, hey, elephant cavalry. I spent five minutes figuring out how their economy worked before I even tried to really get going, and when I did I discovered that elephants are effectively a separate, extremely expensive unit type, and I couldn't figure out a way to integrate them into my army. Similarly, the Chinese army building mechanic is infuriating, and the strength of the unique infantry for each nation means that I pretty much never build cavalry. Also, it must be stated that the Japanese are horrendously overpowered: I've never even been threatened with defeat in any game playing them.

Given that, if you liked the core game, you'll probably have some fun with this. I did. You have to treat it as being somewhat silly to have it be really enjoyable, as some of the mechanics are hilariously ahistorical or unrealistic but still deeply rooted in the common culture. So, yeah. Don't buy the core game on the strength of this expansion, but if you like the game, this is probably worth a shot.

Very good game
This series (age of empires) is a favorite of ours, and this installation is no exception.

I have to say, I've read all of the current review and the negatives ones are quite puzzling, so i'd like to address some of those issues. I have installed this games multiple times in different states of XP, Vista (ultimate), and 7. They all run fine. The graphic in this game may seem basic to many other games, but for it's type, they are amazing. The reason the graphics may not seem quite up to par, is that there is simply alot going on in this game. I would argue this game can have more AI calculations in a single turn than most modern games have throughout the entire gameplay. Also, some people complain about what techs open what abilities, because of their religious and political beliefs, but if you read the disclaimer on these, you can tell the dev team put alot of thought into the organization and they tried there best not to offend. The fact that you don't see more complaints on this should be a clue that they did a good job. Finally, the only major crash I have experienced is late in gameplay, when there are usually alot of calculations per turn. However, If you save and restart, it runs flawlessly through the rest of the game (usually just saving solves this).

Be aware that there is so much detail that it took me nearly a years and half to really start to understand the subtleties of this game. There are small decisions, like placing your city closer to a chain of hills, that are detrimental in the short term but can pay of after several hours of gameplay (this is a simple example). That doesn't mean it's difficult to just pick up and play however. With all of the difficulty settings available, nearly anyone can just pick up and go. I have also found the AI recommendations to work fairly well.

This is a game that you simply can't stop playing after playing through a few times. I have been playing it since it's release and continue to play it. You never play the same game twice, and it is fun to make little challenges, like pumping as much research out of city as possible, while another produces half your civs gold. The war system is by far the best I've played as well. The ranking system is well designed, and although the odds can be cruel at times (I've lost a couple tanks to an archer before), I think most people find it to be very balanced. Overall, I think the funnest part is just continually discovering new subtleties in this game. I continue to find new ways of using a key square on a map or using religion to forward a key trade deal that will only have a significant affect several hundred years in the future. It's by far the funnest turn based strategy experience available.

Myst 10th Anniversary DVD Edition

Myst 10th Anniversary DVD Edition

I recently decided to go back and play the entire Myst series from the beginning, starting with this set. I had never played Myst before this, though I had an inkling of how the game played. Well, I have completed all three of the games now, and what an experience! I loved these games, Riven especially.

One issue that some people may worry about is compatibility with Windows Vista. This will run fine on Windows XP or a Mac as far as I can tell. I had to struggle with it a little until I figured out the trick. Since I think everyone should play these games, if you have Vista and want this to run:

1. Install the game normally (I installed them one at a time).
2. Uninstall any Quicktime version that is on your computer. It is free to get Quicktime off the internet so you can get it afterwards. This game uses Quicktime as a major component, and newer versions of Quicktime just don't really work.
3. Install the Quicktime that comes with the DVD for each respective game (Quicktime 6.__, I believe).
4. Run the game. You do NOT need to run it in compatibility mode, as it will give errors if you do.

Another word of advice: Save often. These games are a little unstable, though I had a minimal amount of problems. They are still very much playable, and WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

If you are having trouble with the Myst games at first, just keep at it. Unraveling the mysteries and puzzles and exploring this beautiful world is such a reward for a little frustration and confusion. Experiment too, because each game has a few endings (only one is the -right- ending, but you can see the other cinematics too - save often!).

The images are stunning (especially considering when these were made), the puzzles are engaging, the soundtrack is FANTASTIC, and the storyline twists and turns in intriguing ways. If you have the chance, I recommend listening to the game with headphones, because it is a lot more immersive. I literally had a shiver run up my spine during certain parts because of the music.

If you enjoy these games, I would recommend the rest of the Myst games as well, though I have not gotten to Uru yet (but have heard great things about it).

I hope that my review was helpful. Enjoy!

Amazing gameplay, challenging puzzles, good story line
This game is a must for those who love adventure games, and mind challenges. This particular version of the myst game suits very well for Vista. The graphics are beautiful. Hours of fun. I will be playing it again in the future. Loved every minute of it.

Great games. Beautiful scenery. I recommend Myst to everyone. Someone who enjoys puzzle solving will love this game. For people that like action or shooting games, or have very little patience, I would stay away.

The title of my review basically gives the bottom line up front. The game is definitely fun, but what really puts it over the top for me is the unlimited replayability. There are hundreds of countries to select; each one will require its own unique set of paths to victory (or defeat). Notice I said paths; there is no single path per country.

Campaign Map: The Campaign Map is visually pleasing. It's nothing extravagant that requires the latest in video technology; but it does the trick. The nations and provinces are well laid out and the view control is what you would expect with any other map in any other game. There is minimal frustration with selecting items on the map at times. An Army icon might interfere with you selecting the town to view your settlement details. But if that is enough to frustrate you out of playing the game then I'd hate to see your reaction if you wound up on Ashton Kutcher's "Punk'd" or fell victim to Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" or "Bruno".

Interface: First time players will find the interface difficult to use at first. Just start playing the game and you'll conquer the interface sooner than you think. It's another minor obstacle which when conquered will provide endless hours of enjoyment. The interface is the game. This is where you execute political, financial, military and religious decisions. You'll find at first that there is a lot on your plate and you may become discouraged. Once you learn how your decisions affect the game (which again, won't take long) you'll truly enjoy this game and will find it difficult to stop. There is so much you can do as you lead your nation through the gauntlet of empire hunting nations. You can conduct marriages, exchange map information, make trade agreements, make alliances, send gifts, send missionaries, send merchants, send spies, send colonists (who can either establish trading posts or colonies), offer loans (and control when they're paid back and at what rate) and more.

Political Slider: All of these different things you can do have positive and negative effects. The negative effect may simply be that it costs you money to initiate that event or, it might mean that the revolt risk in a province increases (and at times it may cause an instant rebellion). One of the most interesting options in this game is the ability to offset some of these effects every 10 years of game play by going to the political slider and moving one of the sliders one space to the left or right. For example, one slider offers you the ability to move your country in the direction of either being a nation of "serfdom" or a nation of "free trade". One option provides you merchants more often and at cheaper cost. The other provides merchants less often, makes them more expensive to send out, but they perform better. Then there is the "Land Warfare" and "Naval Warfare" slider which allows you to decide if you want your nation to be more of a naval power or more of a Land Warfare power. Just remember that when you move that slider there are always positive and negative effects. This is a game of balance. You must carefully consider every action and how it will affect gameplay.

Combat: If you are expecting combat in a form similar to the "Total War" or "Command and Conquer" Series than look elsewhere. There are no tactics involved. You basically assemble your army, march it to a province occupied by an enemy army and the AI figures out who wins. All you can do to effect the outcome is choose the types of units you put in your army. This is the case with both your Army and your Navy. The variety is not great, but this game is not about combat; it is about the strategic (and operational to some extent) management of a nation. And trust me, if you had to manage an individual battle you wouldn't finish a campaign until St. Peter opened the gates for you.

Loans: I had a problem with the loans in this game. This portion of my review is actually more of a gripe than a review. In the previous installments of this game I would use loans when playing as a small nation in order to become wealthy. I would loan out all my money and charge 10% interest. The loan would be for the max allowed number of months. So for all those months you collect the 10% interest and then you get the loan back at the end. Very rarely did a country decline my loan offers. Is it cheating???? Maybe, but it was fun to do. In this game the pendulum has swung the other way. I've not once managed to successfully offer a loan for more than 4% and also for not more than 24 months. In fact, rarely will the AI nations agree to a loan at all. More often than not when it is time for a nation to pay back the loan, they refuse. So, if you're familiar with that "get rich quick" scheme; don't try in EUIII. I would prefer the loans not work in such a way. I also don't want them to revert back to the way they were in EUI and II. But if they could've found a more middle of the road compromise on the loans then that would've been much more satisfactory.

So, you've read my ups and downs on this game; the downs are negligible in my opinion. If you're thinking of buying this game, quit thinking. Just buy it. If you like Strategy; you'll love this game.

Keep your credit card in your wallet for now
I'm here to say there is a NEW, third expansion to the game, HIER TO THE THRONE. I'm no good at paraphrasing other people's words, so I recommend going to [...], the company site, to learn more.

TO EVERYONE WHO SAYS IT DOESNT WORK ON VISTA
It DOES work on Vista/Windows 7. There is a simple fix posted in the Paradox tech support forums thats been there for quite a while. The problem is that this game relies on Direct X9, where Vista has Direct X10. Theres a simple download posted that makes the game compatible. The people who wrote those nasty reviews were too stupid to check the online support on the forums. The manual is downloadable and its true the tutorial doesn't work.

This is by far the best strategy game ive every played. Historicly and Realistically it beats CIV IV and those other games. Instead of playing as Germany (no such nation existed till the 1800s) you can play has a duchy in the Holy Roman Empire, instead of playing as India (no such nation existed until the mid 1900s) you can play as the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughals, The Maharatha Confederacy, etc. The tactical and economic situation is complex yet simple to grasp. Don't make simple assumptions about a game before you check its tech support.

Demigod

I waited until the demo came out four months after this game was released before buying it. I was thoroughly convinced by the demo that there was something special about Demigod, but knew that the game would need to be supported with new content if it was going to thrive. Anyone interested in this game should definitely try the free demo. Not everyone will like this blend of role-playing and real-time strategy gaming, but I found Demigod a well-conceived mix of the two.

Gameplay: The story and objectives of the game are fairly straightforward. You select 1 of 8 demigods, fight other demigods on 1 of 8 maps, and try to satisfy the win condition, whether that means destroying the enemy citadel, killing the most demigods, or capturing and holding flags. You can pick a demigod assassin or general. The only difference between the two is that generals can summon minions to help them; however, generals--with the right equipment--can be as strong as assassins. The gameplay can get pretty intense early on as your team tries to hold flags, destroy towers, and push toward the enemy headquarters, all while avoiding being killed. Much of the fun comes from customizing your demigod with abilities and various equipment, while upgrading your citadel to produce more gold, better reinforcements, and other things. The game is a classic race against time as your team tries to "level up" and gain map control before the enemy does.

The game is primarily built for multiplayer, but can be played with and against AI demigods. There is no single-player campaign beyond a tournament which consists of 8 skirmishes. It's no big loss; I really can't tell how a single-player campaign would fit into a game like this. There are hotkeys for most commands, and the user interface is pretty logical. The game has only a few shortcomings. The first (and major) one is the amount of content. Eight demigods is a decent amount to start with, but will get a bit dull after several weeks of playing. Same with the maps. Stardock is planning to release 2 free demigods shortly, along with modding tools. However, to remain fresh for the long haul, the game will need a steady trickle of demigods and maps. Modders may be able to give this game some longevity. Whatever the case, the game has a solid core; it just needs more content over the coming months (an official expansion with plenty of content would be a welcome addition).

Graphics: Beautiful games. The maps themselves are works of art. Each of the demigods is greatly detailed and has a good range of animations. Special effects are also well done.

Sound: Solid soundtrack, convincing sound effects, and appropriately over-the-top voice acting. The game has a lot of character, which is one of its strengths.

Technical issues/documentation: The game comes with a manual which explains the basics. However, it should have gone into much greater detail regarding the demigods themselves and the available items and artifacts. On a technical note, since I bought the game 4 months after release, many of the initial multiplayer connectivity problems have been fixed. There is still the occasional lag and desync error, but overall the multiplayer is fine now after the patches. Since the game is integrated with Stardock's Impulse system, you have to register it online in order to get updates. Unlike Steam, Impulse does not run in the background when you play the game. However, like Steam, Impulse does tie the game to an individual account, thus killing the game's resale value (to its credit, Stardock, unlike Steam, did allow for refunds for a while).

Replayability/Value: The game has huge replay value, but much will depend on future support and modding. Beyond the two free demigods that should become available in the next few weeks, Stardock (and the developer, Gas Powered Games) will need to continue providing bug fixes, refining the network code, and adding content. At the very least, modders will need tools so that they can step up to the plate and show the game some love. I recommend the game, but also recommend that potential buyers play the demo first.

Pros:
+Fun and innovative gameplay
+Diverse mix of demigods
+Gorgeous graphics
+Solid music, voices, and sound effects
+Huge amount of potential if supported properly

Cons:
-A bit thin on initial content
-Spotty network code at release
-Somewhat inadequate manual
-No resale value (due to online registration with Impulse)

The Best of Two Genres: Real-Time Strategy and Action RPG
Demigod allows you to control two types of demigods -- generals and assassins. When playing as an assassin, you'll have control of a warrior who gains experience and money as he kills enemies. You'll have the ability to upgrade weapons and items, and to learn spells, just like in an action RPG.

When playing as a general, you'll control allied forces, commanding them to attack where you want, just like in an RTS game. Allied creeps and minions continually enter through reinforcement portals, and as the general you direct them into battle.

The goal is the same whether you are playing as assassin or general: capture the enemy's control points. Each different general and assassin has his own unique set of skills and powers, and you'll need to learn how to use each one effectively against another.

Zoom in and out to see individual fights or the whole war. View larger.
Fantastic Graphics and Beautiful Art Style
Demigod features a beautiful art style that has a sense of whimsy. The game takes place on different maps, each featuring unique elements. Beautiful, exotic locations include a lava mine, waterfall temple, and more.

The monsters and creatures of the game are rendered in great detail, and observing a mass of them engage in battle is a thrilling spectacle. Angels, demons, and creatures both gigantic and tiny all inhabit the world at the same time, giving it a diverse and varied look. By zooming in and out of the map, you can see just how massive everything is. From a birds-eye view, you'll barely be able to see the movements of the small creatures, yet zoom in and you'll be a part of an epic battle. Depending on whether you're playing as a general or assassin, you'll make different use of the zoom levels.

Different game play Modes Provide Replay Value
Demigod has different game play modes including single-player, skirmish, and five-on-five multiplayer. Single player mode provides a compelling story line concerning the tournament to become the newest god.

Multiplayer mode provides many options: you can jump right into a game for instant gratification, or you can join in tournaments that allow you to carefully build up a character and upgrade him to your liking. Multiplayer games have different settings for players to tweak, such as the amount of gold income and achievement items that can be reached.

Great Multiplayer Co-Op
A lot of games are good in Multiplayer, but very few offer such a great Co-Op, teaming-up style experience. I'm playing another game now in which the online multiplayer mode does not allow for computer-controlled AI opponents, it only allows for players to oppose each other, not work with each other against the computer. This game DOES have that ability.

The graphics are great, and the maps are terrific! One of the maps features the playing field actually on a large stone snake sculpture and it's great - it makes the maps of other games seem boring.

The characters are unique and the skill trees are interesting and allow you to vary the strategy different ways for the same character, so there is lots of replay value. There is also a satisfyingly-large and diverse set of weapons and equipment for purchase, which really adds to the game's depth.

A great purchase!!

If only...
This is a great game. It truly is. The gameplay is fun, strategic, and fast paced without being totally overwhelming to new players. The maps and demigods are all quite fun and varied and the battles often become truly epic clashes with frequent shifts of power and nail-biting endings.
That said, this game is really a multiplayer game. Though it does have a single player mode, it only amounts to a series of multiplayer battles with computer controlled opponents. So, while demigod is an amazing multiplayer game, it has one fatal flaw: the matchmaking service and multiplayer support are absolutely terrible. Though it has come a long way since its unplayable launch, it leaves much to be desired. Playing online in matches that are 3v3 or smaller is doable, however a single player with moderately-high ping brings the game to a painstakingly slow game of lag-tag. And playing a lag-free 5v5 match is virtually impossible. Add that to the frequent server drops and communication errors, and you've got yourself a headache.
So, while demigod's lack of multiplayer support will sometimes make you want to tear your hair out, the game is a pure joy when it woks. If you've got the patience to spend 15-20 minutes looking for a stable game every time you want to play, then I'd highly recommend this game.
